Bonding a focus of 2016 session — how does it work? Learn more

A major bonding bill promises to be one of the big debates of the 2016 legislative session that kicks off next Tuesday.

The House Capital Investment Committee is scheduled to hear from 18 state agencies about their bonding requests Thursday during an all-day hearing (you can stream it live here beginning at 9 a.m.), and legislative leaders have said a robust borrowing package is a high priority this spring. Gov. Mark Dayton has also put forward a $1.4 million bonding plan — the largest in state history if it were enacted.

State agencies and local governments seeking funding for community centers, water infrastructure fixes, road projects and ice arena improvements across the state will likely be glad to hear that. But how does state bonding work? Learn more about the process with our informational video. (Watch it here on our YouTube channel)
