A short meeting Friday afternoon set up what could be a long Monday.
The House Rules and Legislative Administration Committee took two minutes to approve the July 20 Calendar for the Day, which includes the bonding bill, police reform package and governor’s supplemental budget.
Members also approved a motion that waives House Rule 4.05, which prohibits amendments to bills being considered by the House that have had their first and second readings, if the amendment would increase the spending or spending base from which appropriations in the bill are made.
House Majority Leader Ryan Winkler (DFL-Golden Valley), who chairs the committee, said the motion was needed in the event a deal is reached on some of Monday’s legislation.
“We need to have the flexibility on the [House] Floor to move those items by amendment,” Winkler said.
