Osteopathic physicians, who provide a whole-person approach to medical care, would see their voice on the state’s medical oversight board increase under a bill passed 127-0 by the House Monday.
Sponsored by Rep. Tony Albright (R-Prior Lake), HF2445 would grow the Board of Medical Practice composition from 10 to 11 members and change board member requirements so more than one osteopathic physician can serve.
The bill would also make minor technical changes to the licensing requirement for osteopathic physicians, such as updating terminology and making physician testing requirements more uniform.
The bill will now head to the Senate, where Sen. Melissa Wiklund (DFL-Bloomington) is the sponsor.
