One week from today it will be March. One month from today is the first committee deadline. And with the February 2024 Budget and Economic Forecast scheduled to be released Wednesday, the busiest days of this year’s legislative session should soon begin.

But lawmakers will have a brief pause next Tuesday, Feb. 27 to attend precinct caucuses, which are held by political parties around the state to discuss issues and organize in advance of November’s general election. No committee meetings will be held Tuesday or before 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Monday’s schedule will not change. The House Ways and Means Committee is to hold its usual 10:30 a.m. hearing, although the agenda does note the committee will recess and return 15 minutes after the afternoon floor session to take up HF3489, the school resource officer bill.

That floor session will start at its usual 3:30 p.m. time, but there are no bills on the Calendar for the Day.

Have a good weekend and here’s a look back at what happened over the past week.
