St. Paul, MN – With a nearly unanimous vote of approval on Friday, the Veterans and Military Affairs Omnibus Bill passed signaling veterans may get the support they have needed and may get a monetary bonus in appreciation for their service to the country.
The bill provides $24.8 million in bonus payments for gold star families and veterans who served after September 11, 2001, and provides $26 million for Veterans Homes enhancements in Bemidji, Montevideo and Preston.
“As the daughter, sister and mother of veterans, I can say this bill has been a long time coming,” Representative Susan Akland, R- St. Peter. “Veterans sacrificed so much for us, and I am thankful we can come together to make life better for them.”
