St. Paul, MN – Representative Akland (R-St. Peter) is providing students with pathways for long-term success. Through HF 4744, an education savings account would be created for Minnesota’s students. The money from the savings account can be used toward eligible nonpublic schools. Any money left-over from providing tuition to these schools could be applied toward higher education costs in the future.
“Students and parents need choice in their education,” Akland said. “This educational fund can help families make the best choice for their children and put them on a course for long-term success.”
This fund differs from a 529-plan that only covers the costs of college tuition. Through HF4744 that Akland co-sponsors, a flexible spending account is established for K-12 education costs.
