Rep. Christensen votes in favor of COVID-19 Response Legislation

Thursday, March 26, 2020

St. Paul, MN - Today, the Minnesota House passed bipartisan legislation aimed at delivering relief and clarity to Minnesotans impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and the necessary measures implemented in response to the virus. State Representative Shelly Christensen (DFL - Stillwater) voted in favor of the bill.

“These continue to be challenging times for Minnesota as we respond to COVID-19, but the legislation we passed today is another step in providing the resources our community and state need to weather this storm,” said Rep. Christensen. “As we provide the necessary resources to our public health professionals and respective state agencies, we need to also make sure that the physical and financial health of Minnesotans is addressed as we all work together to do our part to ensure our state stays strong during and after this pandemic.”

The legislation passed today includes $9 million for the Department of Human Services for food security, $26.5 million for the Emergency Service Grants program to provide shelter for Minnesota’s homeless population, $30 million in one time grants to child care providers, $10 million dollars for small business loans, financial relief for Minnesota’s workers, and the necessary flexibility for state agencies to respond to the pandemic.
