Dear Neighbors,
The 2018 Minnesota Legislative Session ended about one month ago with decidedly mixed results. There were a few bipartisan achievements. We passed a strong, bipartisan capital investment bill, enacted overdue reforms to state employee pensions, and successfully resisted proposals to attack the first amendment by criminalizing peaceful protests. On the other hand, pure partisanship from the Republican majority meant the session ended without meaningful action on a variety of important issues, including emergency school funding, gun violence prevention, the opioid crisis, elder and vulnerable adult abuse, and more.
Other local legislators and I are hosting two town hall meetings tomorrow to give members of the community an opportunity to ask questions and provide input on these and other issues. The meetings are free, and everyone is invited to attend.
