Legislative Update - April 12, 2019

Friday, April 12, 2019

Neighbors and Friends,

Our third and final committee deadline is midnight tonight. As you can imagine, we are spending a lot of time in committees and are also meeting in floor session every day this week to process bills. Here is the latest news from the Capitol:

Tax Bill invests in E-12 Education

This week, the House DFL Majority announced a tax bill that would raise $1.2 billion in new revenue, largely by taxing corporations’ foreign profits, and invest it in education, health care, and safe and inclusive communities.

Gov. Arne Carlson article about copper mining

In my update last week, I mentioned that former Governor Arne Carlson called to discuss copper mining concerns and asked for my opinion on the matter. Here is his article in MinnPost.

Visitors to the Capitol

Among visitors to the Capitol this week were those advocating for clean water. Minnesota Environmental Partnership representatives made the rounds discussing with legislators their support to keep our waters clean. To read more about their efforts, click here.
