Legislative Update - January 24, 2019 - Homes for All, Housing Champion Award, Midway Chamber

Neighbors and Friends,

We are in our third week of the 2019 legislative session and House and Senate hearings are in full swing. When I’m not in committee, I am meeting with the many visitors who make their way to the Capitol.

On Wednesday, I spoke at a Homes for All news conference. The group advocates for available and affordable housing across the state. As we know, a secure place to live provides the stability to live a productive life. As chair of the Housing Finance and Policy Division, our laser focus is finding ways to solve this crisis.

This article appeared in the non-partisan House Session Daily publication last week and outlines findings by the Governor’s Task Force on Housing established by former Gov. Mark Dayton in 2017. Housing shortages were discussed during our first committee hearing of the Housing Finance and Policy Division. The article includes a link if you’d like to view the hearing.

Last week I was honored to receive the 2018 Housing Champion award from Homes for All. The group presented me with a brick and plaque to recognize our work in the 2018 legislative session.
