RELEASE: Heinrich Supports Energy, Natural Resource Legislation

Thursday, April 21, 2022

St. Paul, MN – The war to eliminate the use of natural resources and energy companies across the country is being felt in Minnesota. As President Joe Biden continues to ignore the value of American energy independence and lean heavily on foreign energy sources, Minnesota’s Republican Legislators are looking out for the public.

“We need renewable and traditional forms of energy,” Representative John Heinrich, R-Anoka, said. “We cannot continue to rely on other countries to source and provide the energy Americans require.”

As part of preserving Minnesota’s energy independence and the important companies that provide fuel, livestock, natural resources and energy companies, Heinrich joined other legislators in filing HF 4779.

This bill would prohibit the State Board of Investment from investing in assets that exclude Minnesota-based energy or natural resources companies. This legislation would also prevent the State Board of Investment from investing in assets that exclude Minnesota agricultural or livestock companies.

“My job is to protect Minnesotans,” Heinrich said. “That includes our energy providers and the incredibly vital work they do.”

The bill is currently in the State Government Finance and Elections Committee for review.
