St. Paul, MN – Representative John Heinrich continues to support those interested in furthering their education and encouraging more people to become law enforcement officers. In the latest legislation he co-signed, $1.5 million would be given in fiscal year 2023 to the Peace Officer Standards and Training Board. This money would be used to provide a grant for Alexandria Technical and Community College.
Of that money, $750,000 would be used for technology needs such as body cameras so students can learn through real-time review. Other dollars would be spent on curriculum updates like military into law enforcement licensure programming and recruitment efforts.
“Minnesota always needs high-caliber individuals to become peace officers. By providing more money to these programs, we are able to give peace officer trainees opportunities to learn and become quality officers,” Heinrich said.
