Dear Neighbors,

This week was similar to the last, with my colleagues and I spending more time on the House floor, debating and passing policy bills from our committees. Last week, we covered Higher Education, Transportation, Early Education, and Veterans and Military Affairs. This week, we focused on our K-12 Education, Public Safety, Elections, and Labor bills.

Much of these policies go hand in hand with the historic investments we passed last year, complementing our state budget and ensuring working families are getting the support they need.

Here’s what else we’ve been up to this week:

Environmental Funding Survey

Did you know that a portion of Minnesota’s lottery proceeds go towards protecting our environment and natural resources through the Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund? Since 1991, the ENRTF has provided approximately $700 million to over 1,700 projects around the state.

The Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources is now gathering input about the future of Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund spending and taking feedback about what environmental issues are most important to you. Make your voice heard about how to improve Minnesota's environment & natural resources.

Fairer Fees

Another pair of notable bills we voted on this week sought to provide transparency to the various fees Minnesotans encounter. What something costs shouldn’t be a secret to consumers, whether you’re paying for concert tickets, meals, hotels, credit cards, or any transaction where the end cost can catch you by surprise.

That’s why I voted to crack down on “junk fees” and provide upfront pricing for event tickets
