Friends,

I hope you had a wonderful, albeit cold, time trick-or-treating on Halloween and have been able to sneak a few pieces of candy when the kids aren't looking!

REAL ID Update & MNLARS

Last month we received more good news that Minnesota has been granted a grace period by the Department of Homeland Security that will ensure Minnesota drivers licenses can continue to be used to board airplanes and enter federal buildings until at least October 10, 2018. Earlier in October Minnesota was granted an extension until January of 2018.

The focus now shifts to the troubled MNLARS system to ensure the implementation of the REAL ID law moves forward and a REAL ID is in the hand of any Minnesotan who wants one. Minnesota must be actively distributing REAL IDs by October 10, 2018 or another extension will be needed.

There has been extensive reporting by KSTP and others regarding the struggles of MNLARS, the new computer system that the state is using to issue IDs, tabs, and more. This must be fixed and to help that, if you run into problems, please use this form to submit the details of the issue. It's disappointing to see these struggles continue and we will definitely look into how this can be prevented in the future.

High School Page Program

The Minnesota House of Representatives High School Page Program is now accepting applications. Over the last 40 years the program has provided high school juniors with hands-on access to our state government in action. I encourage any high school junior who may be interested in learning more about the legislative process to apply for the page program by December 1st. Click here to apply

In Case You Missed It: Tour around 52B!

Late this summer, we put together a video that highlights some of the great and beautiful parts of District 52B, which encompasses Inver Grove Heights, Sunfish Lake, parts of Mendota Heights and Eagan. I think it turned out very well and am proud to represent such a fantastic place to live. Check out the video here!

On this day in History

In 1948, the Chicago Tribune jumped the gun and infamously declared that "Dewey Defeats Truman." Whoops.
