HF 1422 (Mariani) The Sanneh Foundation programs provide all-day, in-school, and after-school academic and behavioral interventions for low-performing and chronically absent students focusing on underserved students of color and students from low-income families. Sanneh Foundation program goals included decreasing school absenteeism, encouraging school engagement, improving student grades, and increasing graduation rates. The 2016 Legislature appropriated $1.5 million for this program and the 2017 Legislature appropriated $1 million to expand the number of sites where the program is offered. The 2019 Legislature did not fund the grants for the 2020-2021 budget cycle.
