Bryan Lawrence is Sworn in as the new State Representative for District 27B after Special Election
St. Paul, MN – Bryan Lawrence of Princeton was officially sworn into office during the House floor session on Tuesday, April 2. Lawrence replaces Representative Kurt Daudt, who served as Speaker of the House from 2015 to 2019 and retired earlier this year.
“I am humbled and deeply honored to have been elected by the people of my district to serve as their State Representative,” said Rep. Lawrence.
Lawrence grew up in a family deeply rooted in agriculture. His father, Doug Lawrence, was a successful entrepreneur, owning and operating Rocket Oil, Rocket Turf, and Lawrence Herefords. Bryan worked alongside his father, mother, and brother in these businesses, gaining valuable experience in turf grass production, oil delivery and sales, and cattle management.
After graduating from Coon Rapids High School in 1988, Bryan attended the University of Minnesota, where he earned a degree in Agricultural Business Administration. He returned to the family farm in Princeton, MN, where he and his wife, Marytina, continue to raise their family, live and work.
In addition to his work in agriculture, Bryan has been actively involved in local government and currently serves in leadership positions for several business organizations. He served on the Baldwin Township board for over 20 years, working to prepare the township for growth and development. He also served on several committees in Sherburne County, including chairman of county planning & zoning.
Now, as a State Representative, Lawrence is looking forward to the opportunity to expand on that experience and represent the 27B community.
“I am looking forward to continuing my service to my community and my state. These past two years have been marred with wasteful and irresponsible spending under one-party Democrat control. Just last year, they squandered an $18 billion surplus, raised taxes, and expanded the scope of government by 40%.That includes raising taxes across the state and making everyday necessities like food and gas more expensive for Minnesota families. With my wide variety of experience, I can help restore balance and common sense here in St. Paul."
Lawrence handily won his special election by more than 80% over DFL candidate Brad Brown. Lawrence will finish out the remainder of Daudt's term before running again for his first full term this November.
