Legislative Update - March 28, 2024

Tuesday, April 2, 2024

Dear neighbors,

It wouldn’t be spring in Minnesota without a little snow! I hope everyone is making the most of it and staying safe and warm as we head into April.

We just passed an important legislative deadline on March 22nd, and we are still hard at work on solutions aimed at improving the lives of middle and working class Minnesotans.

Rescheduled Town Hall

Due to this past weekend’s snowstorm, we had to reschedule our District 25 Town Hall to Saturday, April 6 at 2:00pm. It will still be held at 125 Live in Rochester. This event is an opportunity for you to share your thoughts and concerns with us as we head into the final weeks of the legislative session. I hope to see you there!

Committee Hearings

I’ve still been hard at work presenting policy bills to a number of committees. This week, I presented HF 3889 to the Health Committee. Amino acid-based formula is necessary for infants with severe milk allergies to live. While there is currently an agreement with the six major health insurance plans that they will cover amino acid-based formula, because it is not in statute, it is very hard to get it covered for families who are dealing with their most difficult times. My bill works to change that.

Homeless Day on the Hill

I recently had the privilege to meet with constituents who were at the State Capitol for Homeless Day on the Hill to advocate for social change and talk about encampments. It is vital that we keep working on legislation aimed at increasing access to housing and ending homelessness in Minnesota. Without a home, people cannot have the stability to overcome obstacles. Thank you to the constituents for making the trip to the State Capitol to advocate for such an important issue!
