Frontline Worker Bonus Pay available soon

Wednesday, May 4, 2022

Dear Neighbors,

Last year, lawmakers promised our dedicated frontline workers – who kept our state moving forward despite putting their own health on the line – a ‘thank you’ in the form of a bonus payment. Now, these heroes are finally on the verge of getting the extra pay they deserve for their incredible sacrifices.

Following a bipartisan compromise, Governor Walz has signed a bill into law providing $500 million worth of bonus payments for frontline workers including health care workers, first responders, child care providers, food service and retail workers, and more. Workers can sign up to receive notifications about updates at frontlinepay.mn.gov. Once the application process opens – a few weeks from now – workers will have 45 days to apply. A full FAQ document, including eligibility information, is available here.

To be clear, this isn’t the end of our work to strengthen opportunities for workers to succeed and thrive. My House DFL colleagues and I also remain committed to other important solutions – like Paid Family Leave and Earned Sick and Safe Time – so all Minnesota workers and their families can have the economic security they deserve.

As always, I invite you to reach out to me with your input, ideas, or if I can ever be of assistance. It’s an honor to represent you.

Sincerely,

Liz Olson
State Representative
