Greetings,
During the summer, I communicated with engineers at MnDOT regarding efforts to redevelop I-35W north. Funding for this major project was secured in the transportation funding package from the 2017 Legislative Session. Actual construction will begin in 2019 and include sound wall construction along the entrance of US Highway 10 onto I-35W south, as well as along the east side of I-35W north and south of County Road D. The sound walls will be most beneficial for nearby residents in Mounds View and Arden Hills. The I-35W redevelopment project will also establish a MnPASS lane similar to that on I-35E. As this will be a large construction project, we should plan on 3 to 4 years for completion. Long term, I believe this will be a very beneficial investment for all in our community that travel I-35W.
High School Page Program
Applications for the 2018 Minnesota House of Representatives High School Page Program have now been mailed to our local schools. I encourage any high school junior interested in the political process to apply.
Throughout the week-long program, pages will assist state representatives and staff in the House Chamber during session, observe how committees are conducted, meet individually with their local state representative (me), and learn how legislation moves through the political process. This program also gives students the opportunity to meet with constitutional officers, members of the judiciary, lobbyists, and members of the media.

Online Safety
It is likely that many of our community’s students will be doing a lot of school work online this academic year. Whether it’s on a computer or a tablet, it’s important that they know how to stay safe and for you to know what data is/can be collected by some of these online educational programs.
It’s important that you have a conversation with your children to discuss the possible dangers of the internet. From using web filters to limiting/blocking certain application downloads, there are multiple precautions that we can take as parents to make sure our kids are safe when using the internet. I’d recommend reading this article to learn more!
Twin Cities Marathon
This Sunday, October 1st, I will be running in the Twin Cities Marathon! If you plan to attend as either a spectator or a runner, don’t hesitate to find me. My bib number is 5163; I hope to see you there!

Community Recognition
Last evening at the Minnesota Business Partnership annual meeting, Land O’ Lakes, based in Arden Hills, was presented the 2017 Minnesota Legacy Award, a significant achievement. Congratulations to all employees of this great company!
