ST. PAUL, MN—State Representative Jeff Backer, R-Browns Valley, announced today that the Fergus Falls School District is set to receive a $100,000 grant through the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry’s Youth Skills Training (YST) program. This funding will enable Fergus Falls High School to partner with local employers to develop and implement safe, healthy, and meaningful paid work experiences for students 16 years of age and older in the community in the advanced manufacturing, agriculture, automotive, health care and internet technology industries.
“This funding will provide local students with the opportunity to gain meaningful paid work experience to prepare them for future success,” said Rep. Backer. “Preparing local students for the careers of tomorrow is something that deserves bipartisan support, and I am pleased to see schools in our area will be receiving this important grant funding.”
The grants are part of the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry’s YST program, which was signed into law in 2017 with bipartisan support.
