Minnesota House Sends Increased Funding for Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program to Governor Dayton

Thursday, February 27, 2014

St. Paul, Minnesota – Today the Minnesota House of Representatives unanimously passed an increase funding to the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) authored by state Representative Joe Radinovich (DFL – Crosby). The Senate suspended the rules to pass the bill today and re-passage in the House sends the bill to Governor Dayton.

Rep. Radinovich released the following statement:

“The House acted on the bill on day one and I’m pleased the Senate followed suit to pass the bill quickly. The alternative is this critical program running out of money and Minnesotans left in the cold. In tough times, Minnesotans come together to help those in need. I’m glad we were able to do so once again.”

“This isn’t the end of this issue — a lot of Minnesotans already paid exorbitant prices for propane before assistance was available to them and without changes, this problem will come up again and again. We’ll continue working together on long-term solutions to our propane supply crunch.”
