Legislative update

Friday, April 26, 2024

Dear Neighbor,

We are now in the final month of the 2024 session with lots of unfinished business and many questions over exactly how things will play out between now and our scheduled May 20 date for adjournment.

The next few weeks presumably will be spent discussing and voting on a number of omnibus finance bills the House majority has been preparing. As noted in my last email, these omnibus bills collectively spend another half a billion dollars in addition to the two-year state budget that was enacted less than a year ago. We should be proceeding with caution since the state already is fully funded for the current biennium and a shortfall is projected for the next cycle.

Until next time, have a good weekend and please stay in touch. Your input and questions on whatever issues matter most to you are welcome as we hit the home stretch of this session. I’ll do my best to keep you posted as developments occur and am paying especially close attention to ag legislation.

Sincerely,

Paul
