Rep. John Ward Offers House Resolutions Congratulating Forestview Middle School and Local Eagle Scouts

Wednesday, April 17, 2013

St. Paul, Minnesota State Representative John Ward (DFL – Baxter) recently offered House Resolutions congratulating Forestview Middle School for being one of the grand prize winners in the Solve for Tomorrow National Education Contest and congratulating local Eagle Scouts.

Forestview Middle School in Baxter was selected as one of the five grand prize winners in Samsung’s Solve for Tomorrow National Education Contest for their High Altitude Balloon project. Each of the five winning schools received more than $100,000 in technology products such as smart boards, LED TVs, and laptops. The winners were honored today in a special ceremony in Washington DC.

“We’re all so proud of the students at Forestview and I wanted them to get a little recognition at the Capitol,” said Rep. Ward. “The students at Forestview won out of a group of more than 1,600 schools and it is such a great accomplishment. I hope that the challenge and success of this contest will help spark students’ passion to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and math. Congratulations!”

Rep. Ward also put forward a House Resolution honoring each of the seven new local Eagle Scouts. Rep. Ward participated in an award ceremony last Saturday, April 13.

“I was honored to participate in Saturday’s award ceremony and offer this resolution,” said Rep. Ward. “Congratulations to these young men for their service and dedication, and I hope that they continue the great work of volunteering and serving their communities in the future.”
