St. Paul—Today, Minnesota House Republicans released their second transportation plan. Representative Clark Johnson (DFL-Mankato) issued the following statement.
“I have said from the beginning that Minnesota needs a long-term, comprehensive transportation plan and we need to do it now. It appears the Republican plan relies heavily on money that could fund our schools, nursing homes, and other worthy programs. I want to hear more details in committee, but I have major reservations about what looks like funding shifts without long-term dedicated funding. The House Republicans are putting a lot of faith in future legislatures that they will feel the same way about borrowing for transportation as the current Republicans do. I will not rely on chance to fund the completion of Highway 14-its needs to get done now.”
