EDUCATION FINANCE COMMITTEE MINUTES

Representative Cheryl Youakim, Chair of the Education Finance Committee, called the meeting to order at 10:33 AM on March 26, 2024, in Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Jordan moved that the minutes from March 21st, 2024, be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Presentations on Education Bonding Requests.
Testifiers:

• Terry Wilding, Superintendent, Minnesota State Academies

HF 2069 (Rarick) Buffalo; Wright Technical Center capital improvement funding provided, bonds issue, and money appropriated.
Representative Rarick presented on HF 2069 on an informational only basis.

• Brian Koslofsky, Executive Director, Wright Technical Center

HF 3295 (Wiener) Browerville High School new gymnasium funding provided, bonds issued, and money appropriated.
Representative Wiener presented on HF 3295 on an informational only basis.

• Kristine Johnson, 2nd Grade Teacher, Browerville Public Schools

HF 5078 (Noor) Minnesota’s Multipurpose Community Facility Projects to Support Community Revitalization, Connectedness and Equity by Promoting Education, Work and Health program restrictions imposed.
Chair Youakim moved HF 5078 before the committee.
Representative Noor presented HF 5078.
Testifiers:
• Adosh Unni, Director of Government Relations, Minnesota Department of Education

Chair Youakim moved that HF 5078 be laid over for possible inclusion in a final omnibus bill.
HF 4986 (Lislegard) School District Seasonal tax base replacement aid established.
Chair Youakim moved HF 4986 before the committee.
Representative Lislegard presented HF 4986.
