JUDICIARY FINANCE AND CIVIL LAW MINUTES

Representative Jamie Becker-Finn, Chair of the Committee on Judiciary Finance and Civil Law, called the virtual meeting to order at 8:30 AM on February 1, 2022 pursuant to House rule 10.01. The meeting was broadcast via Zoom and House Public Information Services.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Vang moved that the minutes of April 14, 2021 be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Chair Becker-Finn moved that HF 726 be recommended to be re-referred to the State Government Finance and Elections Committee.

Representative Bahner presented HF 726, a bill for an act proposing an amendment to the Minnesota Constitution, article I, by adding a section; providing for gender equality under the law.

Page 2, line 18, delete “the Congress of”
Page 2, line 19, after “States” insert “Senate”
THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Hornstein presented HF 2026 as amended, a bill for an act relating to ratification of the proposed Equal Rights Amendment to the United States Constitution; memorializing Congress to remove the extra-textual time limit for ratification of the amendment by the states.

Chair Becker-Finn renewed the motion that HF 2026, as amended, be recommended to be re-referred to the State Government Finance and Elections Committee.
