Government workers and impound lot operators wont have to count Saturdays, Sunday, and legal holidays among the five days they have to notify a registered vehicle owner and lienholders of a vehicle that their vehicle has been impounded.

Current law includes those days in the five-day notice period.

Sponsored by Rep. Larry Hosch (DFL-St. Joseph) and Sen. Michelle Fischbach (R-Paynesville), the law was signed April 22 by Gov. Tim Pawlenty. It takes effect Aug. 1, 2010.
