$380 Million in State Grants Announced, Including $30 Million for Highway 65

Friday, July 14, 2023

St. Paul, Minn. – This week, Governor Tim Walz announced that the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) will allocate $380 million to fund eight new infrastructure projects through the state’s Corridors of Commerce program, including $30 million for Highway 65 in Blaine.

“This is great news for this project which has seen more progress in the last year than ever before,” said Rep. Norris (DFL - Blaine). “Since the day I was sworn in, I’ve been highlighting the urgency of this project not only to my colleagues in the Legislature but also to our partners at MnDOT. I’m very grateful for the Corridors of Commerce program and can’t wait to see the positive effects it has on our community. I will continue to work with state and local officials to guarantee that this project is kept on track.”

Rep. Norris serves on the House Transportation Finance and Policy Committee, which provided funding for Corridors of Commerce this year and made important changes to the project selection criteria to ensure that projects like Highway 65 in the outer suburbs don’t get overlooked in the funding process.

The Corridors of Commerce grant is in addition to the $102.75 million Rep. Norris secured during the 2023 legislative session and the $20 million recently announced by the Biden Administration. Local officials are currently determining how this additional funding can allow them to either accelerate the project completion timeline or make improvements to additional intersections on the Highway 65 corridor.
