Legislative Update

Friday, February 11, 2022

Friends,?

It has been another busy week at the Capitol, but we have accomplished so much!

This week I co-authored legislation to ensure our democratic process maintains integrity.

HF3235 allows for the state’s largest political parties to request a forensic audit of a state primary or general election. So much was questioned after the last election. These parameters would ensure if any questions existed after an election, they could be quickly and efficiently resolved.

HF3233 is another bill I am proud to co-author. This bill would require ballots to be printed on unique, watermarked paper, with an exception for military and overseas absentee voters. I am pleased to be part of this landmark legislation that will help our elections remain free, fair and secure.

This week I am pleased to see that vaccine mandates are being lifted! What a relief after fighting for so long, we are seeing some movement in the right direction. St. Paul and Minneapolis have lifted their vaccine-or-test mandates for restaurants and bars. Duluth has ended its mask mandate. My husband Mark and I were able to go out for an early Valentines dinner- no vaccine passport needed, and the restaurant was very busy! I can only hope this means the end of this governmental overreach is near.

As of this writing, the State Office Building is still closed, but I am happy to meet you at the Capitol or by Zoom. It is my privilege to be your Representative. As always, reach out if there’s anything I can do for you.
