Rep. Agbaje Statement on Wednesday Morning MPD Shooting

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – This afternoon, Rep. Esther Agbaje (DFL – Minneapolis) issued the following statement regarding Wednesday’s morning’s police shooting:

“Sometime this morning, Minneapolis Police officers were involved in a shooting inside a downtown residential apartment building. Details are still coming in, and I urge city and state officials to do what they can to increase transparency about what happened and the people involved.

My heart is with my neighbors in the building. I am in touch with city officials, and hope that we can work together to provide a space for community members to process this traumatic event.

We continue to work at the state legislature on ways to create better safety in our communities. No one should have to feel unsafe in their own home.”

Rep. Esther Agbaje represents House District 59B in the Minnesota House of Representatives, and recently assumed the role of Chair of the People of Color and Indigenous (POCI) Caucus, which has a stated focus on the Public Safety policy area.
