Rep. Kaela Berg Votes for, House Passes the PRO Act, Protecting Minnesotans’ Reproductive Freedom

Friday, January 20, 2023

SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Today, the Minnesota House passed the Protecting Reproductive Options (PRO) Act. The bill enshrines Minnesotans’ fundamental right to reproductive healthcare. Rep. Kaela Berg (DFL - Burnsville) voted for the legislation.

“I am proud to have voted for the PRO Act, and to see the Minnesota House pass these fundamental rights into law,” said Rep. Berg. “We trust our neighbors to make their own private, personal medical decisions, and politicians should have no say in that. Minnesotans told us that this was a top priority. We have moved quickly and effectively to get this done for our state.”

The bill protects Minnesotans’ right to contraception, the right to carry a pregnancy to term, and the right to abortion, and ensures the right to privacy for personal reproductive health decisions. It also prevents interference by anti-choice politicians who seek to enact or defend medically unnecessary barriers to comprehensive reproductive health care. The Senate is still moving the bill through its committees, and Gov. Walz has signaled he will sign the bill into law.
