RELEASE: Rep. Sandra Feist Votes For, House Passes the PRO Act, Protecting Minnesotans’ Reproductive Freedom

Friday, January 20, 2023

SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Yesterday, the Minnesota House passed the Protecting Reproductive Options (PRO) Act. The bill enshrines Minnesotans’ fundamental right to reproductive healthcare. Rep. Sandra Feist (DFL - New Brighton) voted for the legislation.

“I’m thrilled the Minnesota House has passed the PRO Act and I was proud to support it,” said Rep. Feist. “I spoke with so many members of my community who urged us to prioritize reproductive freedom in the 2023 legislative session. We acted decisively to do just that to the benefit of all Minnesotans.”

The bill protects Minnesotans’ right to contraception, the right to carry a pregnancy to term, and the right to abortion, and ensures the right to privacy for personal reproductive health decisions. It also prevents interference by anti-choice politicians who seek to enact or defend medically unnecessary barriers to comprehensive reproductive health care. The Senate is still moving the bill through its committees, and Gov. Walz has signaled he will sign the bill into law.
