Earth Day

Friday, April 22, 2022

Dear Neighbors,

I hope you all are doing well as we eagerly await warmer weather! The Legislature is returning from our mid-session break and will begin to pass more bills off of the House floor as we head into the final stretch. Right now various budget bills are working their way through the Ways and Means committee as they are set to conform to our larger budget targets. I'll be sure to keep you informed of what we accomplish and how we are putting the average Minnesotan first!

Covid-19 Testing Update

Minnesotans can order two test kits per home (for a total of four tests) at this website: Order your free at-home rapid tests. The website includes information on at-home rapid testing, a video demonstration and FAQ on how to use the iHealth COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test, and a link to place orders.

Minnesotans can also place orders through the Minnesota Department of Health COVID-19 Public Hotline at 1-833-431-2053 Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Language assistance is available.

COVID-19 Vaccination Update

Vaccination remains the safest strategy for preventing COVID-19 infections, hospitalizations, and death. On March 29, 2022, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) amended the emergency use authorization for the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines to include a second booster dose for people 50 years or older and people with certain immunocompromising conditions.

Information about who should get a booster and general booster recommendations are included on the state’s COVID-19 Vaccine Booster Shots website. Completing the primary vaccination series and getting a booster dose when due remains the most important way to protect yourself and others from COVID-19.

Earth Day

Today is Earth Day! While we are continuing to make progress across the globe to reduce our carbon footprint and clean up pollution, we still have much more to accomplish. Here is some more information on this important day and 10 ways you can make a difference

House DFL lawmakers are committed to protecting the environment. We are ensuring Minnesota is leading the transition to a clean energy economy. That is why the climate and energy bill invests in new energy technology start-ups and advancements in creating tomorrow’s energy grid. Minnesota is already the fastest changing climate compared to the rest of the country and it is impacting our health, our farms, and our infrastructure.

Free Park Day

This Saturday is free state park day in Minnesota! On four days in 2022, all 75 Minnesota state parks and state recreation areas will offer free admission to everyone. Mark your calendar for these fee-free dates:

  • Saturday, February 19
  • Saturday, April 23
  • Saturday, June 11
  • Friday, November 25

Minnesota state parks are open year-round, and there's a state park within 30 miles of most Minnesotans. With a free day in each season, it's a great opportunity to get out there and explore someplace new - or visit an old favorite at a new time of year. Whether you stay for the whole weekend or just spend a few hours outside, you'll make memories that will last a lifetime.
