St. Paul, MN - Today Minnesota Management and Budget announced a new economic forecast showing a $9.25 billion budget surplus for the current biennium. The analysis does not incorporate inflationary costs or the various impacts of the Russian military invasion of Ukraine. State Representative Liz Boldon (DFL - Rochester) released the following statement:
“This forecast clearly underscores the diametric economies of Minnesota. On one hand we have record corporate profits and income for the wealthy, and on the other we see thousands of Minnesotans struggling to afford daily living. With this budget, we have a moral obligation to fund proven solutions which can lift people up. We need to make bold investments in childcare, education, housing and other systems that have been underfunded for years and will make a substantive difference in the lives of Minnesotans. I will continue to work diligently at the Capitol to ensure Rochester receives the funding it deserves to support every child, worker, and family.”
