RELEASE: Pfarr Calls for Necessary Tax Relief for Minnesotans

Monday, February 28, 2022

News Release

ST. PAUL, MN – Today, Minnesota Management and Budget released the February budget forecast, indicating a $9.25 billion surplus. This is more than the December forecast of $7.7 billion.

Representative Brian Pfarr (R-Le Sueur) issued this statement regarding the report:

“Prices across the state have crept up while paychecks stay stagnant. Now we find out the government has $9 billion from taxpayers. It is clear Minnesotans are overtaxed. We need to revert this money into refilling our Unemployment Trust Fund and end the social security tax. This money needs to go back to the taxpayers – not to the government,” Pfarr said.
