Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives Day of Awareness

This Monday was not only Valentine's Day, but an important opportunity to bring awareness to Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives in Minnesota. I was happy to spend the day not only advocating for change at the legislature and inviting in my colleagues - the picture above is of colleagues who wore red in solidarity - but in my community.

Watch my remarks from the floor here.

Preventing Homelessness

This week in the committee on Preventing Homelessness, where I serve as vice chair, we heard two extremely important proposals.

One was to extend the amount of time that someone in need can stay in transitional housing, and invests in transitional housing programs in a way that we've never seen before.

We also heard a bill that would put significant investment into emergency services grants. The Emergency Services Program allows organizations and local communities to meet the needs of people experiencing homelessness by providing funding that supports the operations, staffing, and resources to support families, individuals, and seniors.

Deliver $1,500 to our Frontline Workers

It is time for us to say "thank you" and show that we value the essential workers in our community. This money would go on to help a lot of Minnesotans. I was glad to join my colleagues and union leaders in our community this week to speak on the issue.
