Rep. Jordan and Rep. Noor vote to approve Insulin Affordability Legislation

Tuesday, April 14, 2020

SAINT PAUL, MN – The Alec Smith Insulin Affordability Act was approved Tuesday by the House of Representatives. The measure was assembled to put patients first and makes sure Minnesotans can get necessary insulin at an affordable price. House DFLers led the way with a comprehensive plan comprised of ideas from many proposals.

Rep. Sydney Jordan and Rep. Mohamud Noor released the following statements:

“No one should lose their life because they can’t afford the insulin they need,” said Rep. Jordan. “We passed a strong plan today requiring the big drug companies take part in solving the crisis they created. Advocates across the state worked for months to ensure this bill would become law and today that reality came closer.”

“It is unconscionable that Minnesotans could lose their lives because a drug they need is out of reach,” said Rep. Noor. “This bill puts patients first and ensures affordable access to this life-saving medicine. I thank the advocates from across the state who never gave up and today they will see their work come to fruition.”
