REP. NELSON NAMED TO ENVIRONMENT FINANCE CONFERENCE COMMITTEE

Monday, May 6, 2019

ST. PAUL – State Representative Nathan Nelson (R-Hinckley) has been named to a joint House/Senate conference committee to find a compromise on funding environment and natural resources programs over the next two years.

“Having only been in the Minnesota House for a few weeks, I’m honored to have been appointed to this conference committee and look forward to finding common ground with the Senate,” Nelson said.

Conference committees are called when both the House and Senate pass similar versions of a bill, but the language is not identical. In the case of the environment finance bill, five senators and five representatives will work on a compromise proposal that can ultimately be approved by both legislative bodies.

Environment finance covers funding for areas such as the Department of Natural Resources, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, and others.
