Rep. Hodan Hassan votes for the Trans Refuge bill
SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Early this morning, the Minnesota House of Representatives passed HF 146, known as the Trans Refuge bill. The legislation, authored by Representative Leigh Finke (DFL – Saint Paul), prevents out-of-state laws from interfering in the practice of gender-affirming health care.
Rep. Hodan Hassan (DFL – Minneapolis) is a co-author of the bill and voted to support it.
“We have done a lot of work this session to ensure Minnesotans are safe from discrimination and fundamental human rights are not subject to politics,” said Rep. Hassan. “Tonight, we made Minnesota an island of refuge for the trans community. With our neighbors from the East, West, and South threatening the lives and wellbeing of our trans neighbors, Minnesota will remain a safe place for those seeking gender-affirming care without fear of criminal penalty in states that have stripped these human rights.”
