Opioid Crisis Listening Session

Monday, November 18, 2019

Rep. Noor

Dear Neighbors,

Next Monday, I am hosting a listening session on the opioid crisis -- I want to hear you concerns and your questions. Representatives from the Department of Health and the Department of Human Services will also be available to discuss opioid prevention, identification, treatment, and recovery.

I will be joined by Rep. Rena Moran, Rep. Hodan Hassan, Sen. Kari Dziedzic and Sen. Jeff Hayden.

Opioid listening session

For years, Minnesotans have asked the Legislature to hold drug companies accountable for the opioid crisis they helped create and continue to profit from. The accountability Minnesotans are asking for is the result of untold personal and financial loss that has occurred in every corner of our state.

The stories of people we love and care about, especially those who are no longer with us, are the reason we were able to pass significant legislation to combat this crisis this year. Minnesotans' stories drove this conversation, and are why we passed the bill creating an Opioid Stewardship Advisory Council to recommend initiatives to end the crisis and provide resources for recovery which would come from fees paid by pharmaceutical manufacturers and distributors.

Please let me know if you have any questions, and I hope you will join us next week.

Sincerely,

Rep. Mohamud Noor
