Update from the Legislature

Thursday, December 8, 2022
Rep. Bierman

Dear Neighbors,

Happy December! I hope this email finds you staying well and warm.

Now that the election is over, I can resume sending these updates to our neighbors and community. If you know anyone who may be interested in receiving these newsletters, please free to let them know they can sign up here.

Earlier last month, Minnesotans elected a unified state government for the 2023-2024 biennium:  DFL majorities in the House and Senate, and a DFL Governor. I’m honored to continue my service to Apple Valley in St. Paul on behalf of you and your family. Because of redistricting, some of my constituents may have different representation at the legislature this biennium; you can use the updated Minnesota Legislature’s “Who Represents Me?” finder to search for your new state representative and state senator, effective January 3, 2023.

This session, we’ll begin work to pass a new state budget. Governor Walz will present his budget proposal early in the year, and the House and Senate will pass bills to meet the needs of our state. The state budget and our anticipated surplus is more than a fiscal document. It’s also a moral document that reflects our state's values. I'm anxious to get to work in January and look forward to a productive session.

As always, I welcome your input. Please continue to send me your thoughts, ideas, and priorities for the 2023 session at rep.robert.bierman.@house.mn.gov.

I hope you have a great holiday season and that you have an opportunity to spend this time to relax and reflect with family, friends, and loved ones.

Take care,

Robert Bierman
