Legislative Work

Our work continues at the Legislature. The House and Senate continue to carefully vet legislative solutions through the committee process to help our people and economy rebuild and recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. On Monday this week, my bill that would require individual and small group health plan offerings to include a predeductible, flat co-pay on prescription drugs received a hearing in the Health Finance Committee. The bipartisan backed measure will help give Minnesotans another option to afford care, especially at the beginning of a new plan year, when lump-sum payments can be immense. The bill is being considered for inclusion into a larger health finance package.

COVID-19 Vaccine Update

As of today, 948,127 Minnesotans have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and 500,188 have completed the series.

The state is partnering with the Minnesota Vikings on a new community vaccination event to launch this week at Twin Cities Orthopedics (TCO) Performance Center in Eagan. Approximately 13,400 Johnson & Johnson doses will be administered to health care workers and adults 65 years of age or older beginning this week. Appointments will be prioritized for those 65 and older who signed up via the state's Vaccine Connector tool. Health care workers’ appointments will be filled through notification by local public health.

If you haven’t been vaccinated yet, I encourage you to check out Minnesota’s COVID-19 Vaccine Connector. This tool lets you know when you’re eligible to be vaccinated, connects you to resources to schedule a vaccine appointment, and alerts you if there are vaccine opportunities nearby. To sign up, visit mn.gov/vaccineconnector or call 833-431-2053.

Survey

I hope you’ll take a few minutes to complete my 2021 online survey. Questions vary from how you’ve been impacted by the pandemic, to what your thoughts are on cannabis legalization for adult-use. It’s important for me to hear all of the perspectives of our Apple Valley and Lakeville neighbors. Thanks in advance for sharing your feedback!

Sincerely,
