Reps. Hunter Cantrell, Alice Mann Statement on Closure of Three ISD 191 Schools
St. Paul, Minn. - Rep. Hunter Cantrell (DFL – Savage) and Rep. Alice Mann (DFL - Lakeville) released the following statement on the Burnsville-Eagan-Savage school board vote to close two elementary schools and one middle school next year:
“This is a difficult time for our community, and is indicative of many years of failure at the state and federal level to develop comprehensive funding models to move us away from relying heavily on local property taxes to fund our schools."
"Marion W. Savage is right up the street from where I live, and was the first ISD 191 school in our community," Cantrell added. "I’m concerned about this loss for our community, and I’ll continue to work on ways to avoid painful school closures in the future.”
