Addressing the cost of insulin and prescription drugs

Friday, September 13, 2019

Neighbors,

I want to invite you to join me at a conversation in our community focused on lowering the cost of insulin and prescription drugs.

The cost of insulin has skyrocketed in recent years. The House is advocating for a measure -- the Alec Smith Emergency Insulin Act -- to hold Big Pharma companies accountable and require them to create an emergency supply of insulin for people, like 26-year-old Alec Smith, who died because he couldn't afford the insulin he needed to survive.

What: Burnsville Community Conversation on insulin and prescription drugs
When: Monday, September 16 at 1 p.m.
Where: Diamondhead Education Center (Savage Conference Room), 200 Burnsville Pkwy, Burnsville, 55337

The meeting is an opportunity to share personal stories, learn about solutions under discussion at the Legislature, and put pressure on Big Pharma to end price gouging.

If you can't make it on Monday, KSTP has a list of all event times and locations here. We’re concluding the meetings with a formal public hearing at the Capitol on September 26 to discuss what we learned and how to move forward.

I hope you're able to join us!

Sincerely,

Hunter Cantrell
Your neighbor and State Representative
