Thank You Nurses!

Wednesday, May 6, 2020

Today is National Nurses Day, which is kicking up National Nurses Week. The word “hero” is being used quite a bit these days, often rightly so. But no profession is more deserving of the word than nurses. Throughout the nation they are standing up against terrible odds while undersupplied to take care of folks who are suffering from COVID-19. Nurses are putting themselves in harm’s way, day after day to ensure that our loved ones can overcome this terrible disease. To all nurses, thank you, we owe you all a great debt.

Bill Supporting Canterbury Park passes House Commerce Committee

Today, HF 4597 which is authored by Rep. Tabke, passed the House Commerce Committee with unanimous support. This bill would allow off-site wagering on horse races. With stadiums and arenas expected to be closed for the foreseeable future, this is one simple yet effective way for us to support our local economy. The bill is on its way to State Gov. Finance and the hearing is at 8am on Friday.

Rep. Tabke signs onto bill to help craft breweries and distilleries during COVID-19 crisis

The bill creates economic opportunity by temporarily relaxing rigid restrictions on off-sale beverages, allowing for limited to-go sales from taprooms and cocktail rooms. The bill allows craft breweries with taprooms to sell up to a six-pack of 12oz containers or a four-pack of 16oz containers per customer, in addition to growlers and other vessels already permitted. Sales under the provision would be permitted during the peacetime emergency and for a 60-day period thereafter. For craft distilleries with cocktail rooms, a 750ml bottle – or two 375ml bottles – can be sold during the peacetime emergency, plus a period of 60 additional days. It’s important that we find every way possible to get our economy going without endangering Minnesotans. You can read the full bill here
