Legislative Update - December 9, 2020

Wednesday, December 9, 2020

Dear neighbors,

I hope that this email finds you and your loved ones well.

Here’s an update from the Capitol:

Economic Assistance for Minnesotans

Last week, Minnesota Management and Budget (MMB) released a new budget forecast that indicates our state is well positioned to deliver immediate aid to workers and small businesses. House DFLers are working with Governor Walz and our Republican colleagues to help Minnesotans make ends meet as we await more aid from the federal government. We recently put forth a COVID-19 economic assistance package to keep small businesses afloat, support workers struggling to get by, and help families keep food on their tables. I hope we can reach an agreement before the next special session, which is slated to begin on December 14.

COVIDaware App

As you may have heard, a new tool is available to help Minnesotans stay safe and informed as COVID-19 spreads throughout the state. COVIDaware MN is a mobile app that can alert people if someone they’ve been in contact with – even someone they don’t know – contracts the virus. The app is free, voluntary, and anonymous. More than 230,000 Minnesotans have downloaded it. You can learn more and download the app here.
