Be Heard on Cannabis

Wednesday, November 13, 2019

Rep. Sandell

Neighbors,

Next week, there will be a conversation in our community about cannabis - a topic that has gotten a lot of interest in recent years. It should be a lively discussion, and we will be joined by officials from Colorado who will discuss what went well when Colorado legalized cannabis and lessons Minnesota could take away from their experience.

s

  • When: Tuesday, November 19, 6:30 PM
  • Where: Woodbury Central Park Amphitheater, 8595 Central Park Place, Woodbury
  • Who: Hosted by myself, along with Majority Leader Ryan Winkler, Assistant Senate Minority Leader Jeff Hayden, Rep. Tou Xiong, and Sen. Susan Kent with Special Guests Doug Friednash, Former Colorado Legislator and Former Chief of Staff to Gov. John Hickenlooper, and Stanley Garnett, Former District Attorney for Boulder

I hope you'll join us for a conversation about doing what's best for Minnesotans, no matter your feelings on the issue.

Proponents argue that legalizing cannabis for responsible adult use can increase access and affordability for veterans who rely on it to treat PTSD or chronic pain, allow law enforcement to focus their resources on more dangerous crimes, and provide relief for the thousands of minor offenders who have been swept up in our criminal justice system. There are similarly sincere arguments in opposition to cannabis.

Your feedback will be important in helping us respond to the needs and concerns of Minnesotans.

I hope to see you there!

Sincerely,

Rep. Steve Sandell
