Legislative Update - We Can’t Go Back On Reproductive Rights

Friday, June 24, 2022
Rep. Howard

Dear Neighbors,

The Supreme Court said today that our government has the power to take away the most fundamental rights of bodily autonomy for millions of women. The vast majority of Americans find this position reprehensible, yet an unelected body of extremist judges has made it so.

It’s beyond enraging. As is the fact that given this chance, Republicans will stop at nothing to ban abortions here in Minnesota and across the country. The court’s decision does not change the fact that Minnesota’s constitution protects abortion rights under Doe v. Gomez, but we’ve seen today that court cases aren’t set in stone. You can read more about what today’s news means for Minnesota specifically here

Following today's news, I joined my colleagues to lift up the voices of dynamic legislators and advocates that are fighting back. You can watch Rep. Athena Hollins’ comments below.

Roe v Wade Presser

These extremists want you to feel powerless. But never forget – together, WE have power. Now we are going to use it – by organizing and ensuring that here in Minnesota and across the country we will not go back. Channeling our fury into action, we can create a future where reproductive freedoms are guaranteed to all.

As they should be.

Young Children Eligible for COVID Vaccines

COVID-19 vaccinations are now available for kids ages 6 months to 5 years. For too long, COVID-19 has kept children from doing the things they love. The best way to keep your child healthy and safe is to get them vaccinated. Getting your child vaccinated helps keep them in school, sports, childcare, and other activities.

Children who have received all recommended COVID-19 shots, including any booster dose(s) when eligible, do not have to stay home (quarantine) if they are exposed to someone who has COVID-19. They also do not have to get tested as often. You can learn more and find vaccination locations here.

If you have any questions about the resources available to our community or what’s at stake for our work in the Minnesota Legislature, please feel free to reach out.
