First Week of Session!

Friday, January 6, 2023

Dear Neighbors,

The first week of session is in the books as we got back to work fulfilling our promises to improve Minnesota. With Democrats having a majority in the legislative and executive branches of government, we are working hard to ensure we address and meet the urgent needs across the State. Reproductive freedom, affordable child care, improved education, paid family leave and sick time, and infrastructure funding are just a few of our priorities this session. You can watch House and Senate leadership discuss our shared priorities here.

DFL Priorities

We have already taken action on several important issues, here are a few of the actions we’ve already taken:

  • The Taxes Committee passed a bill for federal tax conformity which will reduce taxes on Minnesotans across the state while simplifying the filing process.
  • We announced our joint House and Senate plan for full legalization of adult-use cannabis.
  • The Health Committee passed the Protect Reproductive Options Act (PRO Act) which will ensure every Minnesotan is free to make their own reproductive health care decisions.

This is just the beginning of what should be an eventful session, I’ll be sure to keep you informed of future developments!

Legislator Meet and Greet

Join us for an Edina Legislator Meet and Greet Wednesday, January 11th from 7-9pm at the Edina Senior Center!

With Edina's population growth and redistricting we now have two State Senators and two Representatives advocating for our community at the Minnesota State Capitol. Thank you to the Edina League of Women Voters for hosting this community event!

Working Together

It was an honor to participate in a panel at the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce dinner this week and discuss the importance of working across the aisle to pass legislation that will help Minnesotans regardless of party affiliation.
