ST. PAUL, MN— Representative Greg Boe (R-Chanhassen) is providing more options for American Indian schools. Through his co-authored legislation, HF4234, eligible districts or Tribal contract schools are able to carry over funding if they do not spend the full amount of its aid in the following fiscal year. This carried-over funding would not need to be spent during that given year, and it would not lead to any future aid reduction.
“Tribal and American Indian schools still need funding. This is one way we can provide needed funding for our Tribal and American Indian educational institutions without penalizing them for frugal operations,” Boe said.
Any funding carried over would have to be reported to the Department of Education.
